TBA ECP LAUNCHES IMPROVED STATIC DISSIPATIVE SHEET FOR CLEANROOM SOFTWALL APPLICATIONS - 11/11/2002

Static control specialist, TBA Electro Conductive Products (ECP) has announced a new improved permanently static dissipative flexible sheet that is ideal for producing flexible softwalls for cleanrooms, static sensitive areas and similar applications.

Offering better clarity, light stability and improved strength compared with previous generation products, the new ECP 21140 sheet material delivers a range of desirable cleanroom characteristics including low offgassing, low particulate contamination and washability. The new ECP 21140 material is a permanently static dissipative clear polyester TPU sheet with surface resistivity of 109Ω/square making it ideal for use as a cleanroom softwall as well as flexible packaging, floor and table mats among other applications.

The new material is now available in two thicknesses of 0.4 and 1mm and in widths up to 1400mm. ECP 21140 is humidity independent, aqueous washable and can be recycled. Static decay (1000 to 10V) is less than 0.1s with total outgassing of 1.36µg/g and toluene outgassing of 0.086ppm.

ECP 21140 is based on an inherently dissipative polymer (IDP) alloy where a dispersed phase of static dissipative polymer is integrated within a host polymer. The host material maintains its physical properties while the IDP provides a dissipation path through the alloy. In this manner, permanently dissipative alloys with surface resistivities of 108 to 1010Ω/square are typically produced.
